Mr H - May 18, 2011

I’ll see what I can do. Give me a few days as I think a colleague of mine is going to do them.

3. Ryan - May 18, 2011

Thank you for these solutions so quickly, when will the paper 2 solutions be up?

Mr H - May 18, 2011

Tomorrow morning. I forgot to take the paper home with me to finish off.

4. Taryn - May 18, 2011

Hey! Thanks this is such a big help is there any chance in paper2 you could write the marks next to it:)? For each line

Mr H - May 18, 2011

It won’t have marks on, sorry.

5. Sasha - May 18, 2011

Thanks so much! I feel a lot better now. Have scraped an A!

6. Alastair - May 18, 2011

Hi there… this is a great help! What do you think i will need out of 130 to get an A? 98? 100?
Thanks a lot

7. Ryan - May 18, 2011

How do you think the difficulty of these papers were in comparison to other years? Do you think the grade boundaries will be higher/lower than usual?

Mr H - May 19, 2011

I personally felt that p1 was mostly straightforward with a few marks to make you really think. P2 had some standard questions, a couple of tricky bits and a good problem solving circles Q at the end.

I wouldn’t like to predict cut-offs but for an A it has been consistently around 77/78% for the last few years.

8. Fishface - May 23, 2011

Was it not 75% 97/130 last year and 72% 93/130 for 2009. Hoping for 2009 band (if my info is correct re bands):^)

Mr H - May 23, 2011

You could be right, I can’t find a copy of the Principal Examiners report right now. I would aim for high 70′s to be more confident of an A. THe cut-off’s vary from year to year.

9. Allistair - May 23, 2011

Thanks very much for these solutions. I am tutoring Higher Maths and these have been a great help to me!
Currently studying Maths at Glasgow Uni and I felt Paper 1 was very good but Paper 2 had some tricky marks which even I struggled to get at points!

Mr H - May 23, 2011

Glad to help. P1 was OK and some tricky questions in P2 like you say to sort out the A’s from the B’s from the C’s!!

10. Ryan - May 23, 2011

It looks like I’ve landed on the A/B line, here’s hoping for a generous grade boundary.

11. Saimen Ara Urme - May 27, 2011

Hi,

Is there is any possibility of posting the Higher chemistry 2011 solutions? Also thank you for the Higher maths solutions.

Mr H - May 29, 2011

I’ve passed your request on to the Chemistry teacher.

12. Hector McLoy - May 29, 2011

Please check the solution to P2 Q6.

The sine function should have been integrated to negative cosine.

Agree?

Mr H - May 29, 2011

Hi Hector, thanks for getting in touch.
I’m sure that the sine function has been integrated to negative cosine.

Hi, these solutions are for the Scottish Higher Maths exam. I think you may be looking for a different exam paper not available to us in Scotland.
